What software/methods have you found to be the most successfull when it comes to making a bootable and restorable image of the primary hard drive?

I use ghost.
Well now days i just have a unattendinstall of xp and have all the software that i would put on a computer on the network; i kno it takes longer, but if i have an image of my laptops hdd, its not gonna work on my brothers.

I would just rather someone completely do a complete reformat. However at work we do reimaging and they use ghost.
Which is better anyways? Is one better over the other or does it matter?

reformat makes you loose everything, including programs. drive imaging makes a copy of the drive protecting almost everything on it. I would use drive imaging myself.
